Hello Sherwood Families. We are looking forward to having our students return to in-person school this coming Monday, January 31st. If you would like to test your student before they return to school or ride the school bus, there is free testing today at the Willits Unified School District office from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please remember to check your student for symptoms before you send them to school. Students with any Covid related symptoms such as fever, cough, headaches, body aches, sore throat, congestion, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea will be sent home. Please remember that fabric face masks are no longer an acceptable face covering when coming onto campus. Students must wear a 3 ply surgical mask, KN95 or N95 mask. We have these available in the office for our students. Thank you for your continued patience and support. We appreciate your efforts to keep our school community safe, healthy and in classrooms.
Sherwood Families,
Please remember to come and pick up your students' work today. Someone will be in the office until 2:00 pm. If you can't make it, we will be leaving the student work on the porch. This work must be sent back with your student on Monday. Work completion counts for positive attendance. Thank you! Please call our office with any questions 707-984-6769
Attention Sherwood Families:
Due to the WUSD new plan to address the Omicron surge we will be closing Sherwood School Wednesday (1/26) through Friday (1/28). Unfortunately, 15% of our students and/or staff has tested positive for Covid-19. This closure allows us five calendar days to calm the spread. We will return to school on Monday (1/31). Our teachers will have work packets ready to be picked up on Wednesday morning at Sherwood School. Please drive by the office and we will deliver the packets to the car. If you have requested the 10 day Modified Independent Study your student's teacher will contact you with information about picking up that work. We will have breakfast and lunch available for a drive by pick up in the bus circle at Baechtel Grove on Wednesday from 11-1:00 pm. There will be Covid testing available at the District Office on Friday (1/28) from 11-3:30 pm. On Monday upon returning to school, students must wear a three ply surgical mask or an N95/KN95 style mask. Cloth masks are no longer allowed. Please call the office 707-984-6769 with any questions. You can email mackenzieerickson@willitsunified.com If you have not responded to the survey that WUSD sent out https://forms.gle/c6A6WATGnFg7MD1h6 please do so. Please be well.
Hello Sherwood families. We hope this message finds you safe and healthy. Due to a staffing shortage and low attendance numbers we are combining our middle school classroom with our 3rd-5th grade classroom for today. We are continuing to do everything we can to provide a safe, healthy and happy educational environment at Sherwood School during this recent Covid surge. There are ways you can help! If you are a parent who is fingerprinted with WUSD, you can come in to be a classroom volunteer. All volunteers will need to take a rapid Covid test before entering the classroom. If you have not already done so please sign your student up to have consent to be tested at school. Calling parents for permission takes a great deal of time and keeps your student out of the classroom until they have been tested. If you are unable to do the consent online, we do have hard copy consents in the office that you can fill out. We can not test your student without permission from you. Please continue to keep your student home if they have any symptoms. Students displaying symptoms will be sent home from school. We are currently out of our take home rapid Covid tests. You can still come to the campus or to the District Office to have your student tested. You can also order up to 4 at home Covid tests per family from the Federal Government. I am including links to sign your student up for school site Covid testing and also the link to order your test kits from the Government after this message. We greatly appreciate your support and dedication to keep our students in school. Thank you and have a good day.

Good evening Sherwood families. This is just a reminder that tomorrow , January 20st, we will be having our monthly F.O.S.S.I Meeting. It will be held starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Sherwood picnic tables. Hope to see you there!
Good evening Sherwood families. We hope everyone had a good long weekend. Because Mendocino County has had a rise in positive Covid cases, testing will be available to all students if requested, on Tuesday, January 18th. Please let the office know if you would like your student tested. If your student has any symptoms of illness please keep them home. We still have home testing kits available for you in the office. Thank you for helping keep our Sherwood community healthy and safe.
Dear Families of WUSD,
This week our students and staff have been heavily impacted by COVID. Currently about 15% of our staff and about 20% of our students are out. After careful consideration, we have decided to close school tomorrow, Friday, January 14, 2022. This missed day will be made up on Friday, March 18, 2022 (prior snow day).
Also, as a reminder Monday, January 17th is a federal holiday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and schools are closed. We will resume classes on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your support.
Thank you,
Joe Aldridge
Superintendent
Sherwood Families,
Happy New Year! This is a message from the district office, due to staff illness, we do not have enough bus drivers to complete our bus routes as we normally would. January 4th and 5th will be affected at this time. We will be using vans to transport students. Your student may arrive earlier or later than their normal drop off time. Pick up times should not be affected. It may be easier to provide transportation for your student to and from school on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We are excited to see you tomorrow.
