CTE Visual Arts Pathway

Willits High School offers five classes in the CTE Visual Arts Pathway: Fundamentals of Art, 2D Art, 3D Art/Ceramics, Mixed Media Art, Painting, & Printmaking. Each class gives students the chance to be able to have their art at a formal art exhibit, it can also teach students to be more productive and creative, And it's a great place to meet new people. These classes help show how art is great for expressing self-emotion and having fun. Activities done in this class include painting still art, paper mache, ceramic bowls, collages, artist cards, stained glass, and more.

Students who complete this pathway are ready to dive into many different professions. Below are a sample of the professions and their associated average salaries. While students may need to complete further college or university degrees to be fully ready for these professions, they have the understanding of the skills required and what the profession entails.

Hello! My name is Carolyn Bakewell and I teach all the classes in the CTE Visual Arts pathway.

I have been teaching at Willits High School for twenty two years. Before that I taught first, and second grade for seven years, I have also taught kindergarden, and Art.

I have attended Mendocino College, Senoma State where I got my degree in Art History and Studio Art (Art and Scuplture), and I did grade work at SAIC(School of the Art Institute of Chicago).

Some of my hobbies include hiking, gardening, guitar, dancing, hanging out with my family, and I love to make art.

A few fun facts about me include I am a mom and grandma, in 2018 I won teacher of the year, and I went to a dance acadamy in Studio City.
